The Bedfont and Feltham Area Forum meeting on 28 November 2024 was scheduled to include an informal market place
from 6:30pm to 7:30pm for residents to find out about local Council services and community groups. The formal part of the meeting was scheduled to start at 7:30pm, when the Councillors were scheduled to receive an update on winter fuel support that is available. This was to be followed by an open forum for members of the public to raise issues of local concern, and a Community Spotlight
feature.
The meeting was also scheduled to include the confirmation of the minutes from the meeting of the Committee held on the 2nd September 2024, and updates on the Committee's action plan.
The action plan items scheduled for updates included:
Outreach work on Feltham High Street The Committee has been supporting a multi-agency approach to reports of anti-social behaviour. They have been working with Community Safety, youth services, estate enforcement, local youth organisations including Rise and Thrive, Perfectly Imperfect and Pulse Youth Club, businesses on Feltham High Street and the Metropolitan Police.
Improvements to Proctor Close and Bedfont Lane Community Centre
We continue to support Bedfont lane community centre with their improvement works. The toilet improvements being the first that that assets team at Hounslow have been working on.
Residents of nearby estates were arranging a meeting to discuss petitioning for a Controlled Parking Zone.Completion of the Cricket Pitch on Glebelands Fields The Committee was scheduled to receive confirmation that the construction of a cricket pitch on Glebelands Fields 1 had been completed, as planned, in Summer 2024.
Progress on Baber Bridge improvements
The work to secure the necessary approvals to allow the project to progress to its next stage, concept design is nearing a conclusion, and we except to begin concept design in the Autumn.
Consideration of future action plan items Several issues raised at the meeting on 2 September 2024 were scheduled to be considered as possible additions to the action plan.
Removal of fly tipping and discarded rubbish in Grove Village This item was added to the action plan at the meeting on 2 September 2024 in response to concerns from residents of Grove Village2. The meeting was also scheduled to include the presentation of a report about a consultation on the Council's new transport strategy, Shaping the Future of Travel in Hounslow. This included an update from Robert Heslop, Hounslow Council's Head of Transport Planning and Road Safety, about the progress that has been made on implementing the Council's plans to encourage more cycling in the Borough, including its plan for a network of cycle lanes.
Mr Heslop was also scheduled to report on the Council's discussions with Transport for London (TfL) about improvements to the bus network in the Borough, including a lack of step-free access at Hatton Cross tube station, and requests for the H21 bus route to be reviewed to include Southville Road.
Mr Heslop was also scheduled to address concerns from Councillors about the prevalence of Lime Bikes in Feltham and Bedfont, and to discuss a request from Councillor Siddhu for Lime Bikes to attend a future meeting.
Councillor Mitchell was scheduled to request that the Council discuss with Aviva, the owners of the Feltham Town Centre Management Company, the possibility of making more use of empty parking spaces in Feltham town centre.
Thomas Allan, the Council's Community Development Manager, was scheduled to give a presentation about changes to Area Forums.
