The Barham Park Trust Committee met to consider the Trust's finances. The meeting was also scheduled to discuss the Trust's annual report for the 2023-24 financial year.
Barham Park Trust Annual Report and Accounts 2023-24
The committee was provided with the Barham Park Trust Annual Report and Accounts 2023-24 for the 2023-24 financial year. The report is a statutory requirement and was due to be submitted to the Charity Commission by 31 January 2025. The report pack includes the accounts and the independent examiner's report.
The Trust's accounts show that the Trust had an income of £129,118 and expenditure of £66,095 for the 2023-24 financial year, with total cash funds of £638,206 as at 31 March 2024.
The Trust's independent examiner's report, which is appended to the annual report, was prepared by Darren Armstrong CMIIA, CIA, the Deputy Director Organisational Assurance and Resilience (Head of Internal Audit) at Brent Council. The report states that he is satisfied that the Trust has kept proper accounting records and has prepared its accounts in accordance with the Charities Act 2011.
The committee was asked to:
- Approve the annual report and accounts for 2023-24
- Note the independent examiner's report on the accounts
- Authorise officers to submit the annual report and accounts to the Charity Commission
The report pack also notes that:
- As at 31 March 2024, the Trust had £285,054 in unrestricted funds and £353,152 in restricted funds.
- £60,865 of rental income was owed to the Trust. £44,500 of this related to the 2023-24 financial year, for which the council had provided a cash advance. The remaining £16,365 related to the 2022-23 financial year.
- The Trust's restricted funds can only be spent with the approval of both the committee and the Charity Commission.
The report pack also provides some information about the work that the Trust has undertaken during the 2023-24 financial year. This included:
- Maintaining Barham Park for visitors
- Providing space in the Barham Park building to community organisations, including ACAVA, The Friends of Barham Library, Tamu Samaj, the Veterans, and Young Brent Foundation
- Hosting events at the park, including a visiting funfair and a Remembrance Day event
- Carrying out a range of maintenance and repair work to the park and building
