Licensing Sub Committee Hearing Panel - Monday, 10th June, 2024 10.00 am
June 10, 2024 View on council websiteSummary
The Licensing Sub Committee Hearing Panel of Manchester Council convened on 10 June 2024 to discuss several significant issues, including the licensing application for Chorlton Green and a DPS variation application for H Krupa Wholesale Ltd. Decisions were made on both matters, with the committee granting the Chorlton Green application and rejecting the DPS variation for H Krupa Wholesale Ltd.
Chorlton Green Licensing Application
The committee reviewed the Chorlton Green Report concerning a new licensing application for a venue in Chorlton Green. The application sought permission to serve alcohol and host live music events. Local residents expressed concerns about potential noise pollution and increased traffic. However, the applicant assured the committee that measures would be taken to mitigate these issues, including soundproofing and designated parking areas.
Councillor Paul Convery highlighted the importance of supporting local businesses while balancing community concerns. He stated, We must ensure that new ventures contribute positively to the community without compromising the quality of life for residents.
After deliberation, the committee decided to grant the application with specific conditions to address the residents' concerns.
DPS Variation Application for H Krupa Wholesale Ltd
The committee also considered a DPS variation application for H Krupa Wholesale Ltd. The application aimed to change the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) for the wholesale business. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) submitted a representation opposing the application, citing concerns about the proposed DPS's suitability and previous compliance issues.
Inspector Jane Doe from GMP argued, The proposed DPS has a history of non-compliance, which raises serious concerns about their ability to manage the premises responsibly.
The committee agreed with GMP's assessment and decided to reject the application, emphasizing the need for a responsible and compliant DPS to ensure public safety.
