Review of Political Group Representation and Appointments

The committee reviewed the representation of political groups on various committees, following a report from the full council. The recommendations on pages 5 and 6 of the report were agreed upon without any objections.

The committee noted the appointments to subcommittees and outside bodies as recorded. There were no comments or objections to these appointments.

Approval of Severance Payment

Ms. Raak presented a paper regarding the Human Resources and Employment (HRE) structure. The consultation for this structure closed on May 17th. The reconfiguration required additional resources and strategic capacity to support the organisation through significant changes. Due to an excess of roles, volunteers were sought for severance. One volunteer came forward, but another is still needed. The volunteer has a significant pension strain under the Localism Act, requiring full council or committee approval. The committee agreed to the recommendations on page 14, sections 2.1 and 2.2, to approve the severance payment.

Other Administrative Matters

• Apologies for absence were received from Councillor Jake Rubin, who is in the hospital, and Councillor Georgiou.
• Councillor Groll stepped in as an alternate for Councillor Rubin.
• No deputations were notified for the meeting.
• The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and accepted as accurate.
• The next General Purposes Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 15th, unless urgent matters arise.
