The Taxi & General Licensing Sub-Committee of West Northamptonshire Council met on Wednesday 23 April 2025, at The Jeffrey Room - The Guildhall, Northampton. The agenda included an application to renew a private hire vehicle driver's licence. The committee also planned to exclude the press and public from part of the meeting.

Application to Renew a Private Hire Vehicle Driver's Licence

The sub-committee was scheduled to discuss an application to renew a private hire vehicle driver's licence. The agenda indicated that the report pack contained information pertaining to this application on pages 5-72.

Exclusion of Press and Public

The sub-committee was asked to consider excluding the press and public from the meeting during the discussion of the application to renew a private hire vehicle driver's licence. According to the agenda, this was because the report contained exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972¹, which relates to information about individuals. The agenda stated:

“That under Section 100A of the Local Government Act 1972, the public and press be excluded from the meeting for the following item(s) of business on the grounds that, if the public and press were present, it would be likely that exempt information falling under the provisions of Schedule 12A, Part I, Paragraph 1 would be disclosed to them, and that in all the circumstances of the case, the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.”
