The Property Sub-Committee of Staffordshire Council met on Wednesday 02 July 2025, approving several recommendations concerning the transfer of freehold interests in school land and the proposed leases to academies. The committee agreed to approve the transfer of freehold interest for land at St. Joseph's and St. Teresa Roman Catholic Primary School in Chasetown, as well as the car park land at St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Rugeley. Additionally, proposed leases to academies were approved.

Transfer of Freehold Interest in School Land

The committee approved the transfer of the freehold interest in land at St. Joseph's and St. Teresa Roman Catholic Primary School on High Street, Chasetown, WS7 3XL. This decision was made in accordance with the provisions of the School Standards and Frameworks Act, 1988, as amended by the Education and Inspections Act, 2006. Councillor Chris Large, Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources, presented the recommendation, which was subsequently agreed by the committee.

Further to this, the committee also approved the transfer of the freehold interest for the car park land at St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School on Newman Grove, Rugeley, WS15 1BN. This transfer also falls under the School Standards and Framework Act, 1988, and its subsequent amendments. Councillor Chris Large again put forward the recommendation, which was accepted by the committee.

The committee also approved the transfer of freehold interest for land at St. Thomas More Catholic Primary School on Huthill Lane, Walsall, West Midlands, WS6 6PG. This decision aligns with the same legislative framework as the previous school land transfers.

Proposed Leases to Academies

The committee approved the recommendation for proposed leases to academies. The decision was to approve the lease of the site set out in the schedule, in the standard format. Councillor Chris Large presented this item, and the committee agreed to the approval.

The committee approved the recommendations for the lease surrender and re-lease of Staffordshire Place 2. This decision was made by the Property Sub-Committee.
