The Lancashire County Council Employment Committee convened on Tuesday, 15th July 2025, to conduct interviews for the Executive Director of Resources role. Following the first day of interviews, the committee decided to conclude the interview process, withdraw the interview offer scheduled for 24th July 2025, and propose an offer of appointment to Laurence Ainsworth, subject to no objections from the Cabinet and receipt of satisfactory references.
Executive Director of Resources Appointment
The primary focus of the meeting was to interview candidates for the position of Executive Director of Resources at Lancashire County Council. Each candidate delivered a presentation on a pre-agreed topic and subsequently faced questions from the committee. The committee also considered feedback from stakeholder panels for each candidate.
Ultimately, the committee decided to offer the position to Laurence Ainsworth. The committee resolved to:
- Conclude the interviews following the first day, due to a suitable candidate being identified.
- Withdraw the interview offer scheduled for 24th July 2025.
- Propose an offer of appointment to Laurence Ainsworth, subject to Cabinet approval and satisfactory references.
Other Business
The committee also:
- Noted that the next meeting of the Employment Committee would be held on Tuesday 16 September 2025 at County Hall, Preston.
- Agreed to exclude the press and public from the meeting during consideration of the interviews for the Executive Director of Resources role, citing Paragraphs 1 and 2 of Part I of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 19721.
