Summary
The Standards Sub-Committee of Shropshire Council met on 2 July 2025, at The Guildhall, Frankwell Quay, Shrewsbury to address several code of conduct complaints. The agenda included the election of a chairman for the meeting and declarations of interest, before moving into a closed session to discuss the complaints.
Code of Conduct Complaints
The majority of the meeting was scheduled to be dedicated to considering exempt reports relating to code of conduct complaints. The Public Reports Pack listed four complaints to be discussed:
- Complaint 1: An exempt report of the Monitoring Officer1 regarding a code of conduct complaint (pages 1-14).
- Complaint 2: An exempt report of the Monitoring Officer regarding a code of conduct complaint (pages 15-64).
- Complaint 3: An exempt report of the Monitoring Officer regarding a code of conduct complaint (pages 65-72).
- Complaint 4: An exempt report of the Monitoring Officer regarding a code of conduct complaint (pages 73-202). Exclusion of Press and Public
The agenda included a resolution to exclude the public and press from the meeting during the consideration of the code of conduct complaints. This was stated to be:
in accordance with the provisions of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 and Paragraph 10.4 (3) of the Council's Access to Information Rules.
This exclusion is to ensure confidentiality during the discussion of sensitive information related to the complaints.
