The Boston Town Area Committee BTAC meeting included an update on crime and policing in Boston, a review of the committee's work programme, and a discussion of the BTAC Small and Empowering Healthy Communities Grant Scheme. The public and press may have been excluded for a portion of the meeting.

BTAC Small and Empowering Healthy Communities Grant Scheme

The committee was scheduled to consider the recommendations of the BTAC Grants Working Group regarding the first round of grant applications for the 2025/2026 financial year. According to the BTAC Small and Empowering Healthy Communities Grant Scheme report, the BTAC Grants Working Group met on 8 July 2025 to review the applications. Two eligible applications were received in this round. Details of the applicants, project details, requested amounts, and the Working Group's funding recommendations were listed in an appendix, which was exempt from public viewing because it contained financial or business information.

The report stated that the grants support the council's corporate priorities:

Healthy Lives; Safer and Resilient Communities and the Environment.

The report also included an infographic relating to climate change assessment, and stated that Boston Borough Council has committed to being Net Zero by 2040.

The recommendation to the committee was to approve the grant funding awards recommended by the BTAC Grants Working Group.

Crime and Policing in Boston

Inspector Ian Cotton of Lincolnshire Police was scheduled to provide a verbal update on crime and policing in Boston.

Work Programme

The committee was scheduled to discuss and update its work programme for the current year, according to the Agenda. The Work Programme 20256 listed several items for future meetings:

• BTAC Small Grants would be discussed at the meetings on 25 September 2025, 27 November 2025 and 26 March 2026.
• The BTAC Q1 Financial Position as at 30 June 2025 would be discussed on 25 September 2025.
• BTAC 2025/26 Events would be discussed on 25 September 2025.
• The BTAC Q2 Financial Position as at 30 September 2025 would be discussed on 27 November 2025.
• A Biennial update from Lincolnshire Housing Partnership would be discussed on 27 November 2025. Anthony Read, Chair of the Lincolnshire Housing Partnership¹, was scheduled to be a guest.
• The Proposed BTAC Budget 2026/27 and MTFS to 2030/31² would be discussed on 22 January 2026.
• The BTAC Q3 Financial Position as at 31 December 2025 would be discussed on 26 March 2026.

The committee had previously agreed to tours of BTAC assets and open spaces, and one was scheduled for the morning of 24 July 2025.

Exclusion of Public and Press

The committee was scheduled to consider a resolution to exclude the public and press from the meeting for an item of business. This exclusion would be under Section 100(A)(iv) of the Local Government Act 1972, due to the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act (as amended). Appendix 1, related to the BTAC Working Group recommendation, was the item under consideration.
