Summary
The Hanworth Area Forum met on Monday 21 July 2025, with an agenda that included an open forum for local residents to raise concerns, a community spotlight segment, and a discussion of the area's action plan. Councillors also were scheduled to discuss a petition regarding an experimental e-bike parking bay on Elizabeth Way. Prior to the meeting, an informal market place was scheduled, offering food and drink, and a chance for residents to visit stalls showcasing council services and community groups.
Petition to Remove Experimental E-bike Parking Bay
The forum was scheduled to consider a petition calling for the removal of an experimental e-bike parking bay on Elizabeth Way in Hanworth Park. The petition, submitted by Nicholas Moore, stated that the parking bay:
...was installed in September 2023 (having initially been installed in a highly dangerous location at the top of Queens Way - Hanworth Park) and should have been subject to Residents consultation by now (after a period of 18 months, extended from the original12 months), but this has not happened, and I am given to understand that will now not happen at all!!
The petition also stated that the parking bay is infrequently used, and that numerous Lime e-bikes are found abandoned in the area on a weekly basis. It suggested that a better location for the e-bike parking bay would be at the junction of Snakey Lane and Sunbury Way, which is on a dedicated cycle path to Feltham. The petition had 82 signatures.
Matters Arising and Action Plan
The forum was scheduled to discuss matters arising from the meeting held on 10 March 2025, including updates on questions raised during the open forum at that meeting. These included:
- Lime Bike operations within the borough, including abandoned bikes, underused designated bike bays, and restricted access to local shops due to reduced car parking spaces.
- Speed signs on the slip roads from the A316 towards/from Twickenham at Muller Roundabout/Swan Road and the request for a pedestrian crossing to be put in place.
- Cars turning out of Winchester Road to Hampton Road West into heavy traffic.
- Obstruction of views when getting off the bus on Sunbury Way in the direction of Butts Farm.
- Faults with the
walk
signs at traffic lights on Feltham High Street crossing from Tesco to the H25 bus stop. - The shops on Apex Corner and a large area of pavements that has become dangerous with uneven paving slabs and trip hazards, and cars parked on the pavement.
- Staff turnover at Lindon Bennet School and the difficulty recruiting new staff.
The forum was also scheduled to note updates on the following action items:
- The cost to remove fly tipping in the park behind the Naval Club.
- Utilising open green spaces, with concerns raised about a proposal for 13 blocks of flats in Hanworth Park.
- Vehicles obstructing access at the corner of Queens Way/corner of Shakespeare Way.
- Traffic build up on Swan Road, and coaches from private schools using it as a rat run from traffic on the A316.
- Whether Heathrow Airport was included in the Air quality Survey.
- The general state of streets looking like dustbins, particularly in Crispin Road outside Tesco Express.
- A post at the end of Hereford Road which was consistently knocked down and reinstated.
Open Forum
The agenda included an open forum, where members of the public could raise matters of local concern. According to the agenda, points raised would be noted and used to inform the work of the Area Forum, but it may not have been possible to have a detailed discussion or response at the meeting.
