Summary
The Licensing Sub Committee C met on 12 August 2025 to discuss a premises licence application for Batch Baby and a variation of premises licence for The Last Tuesday Society. The committee approved the premises licence for Batch Baby and approved the variation of premises licence for The Last Tuesday Society, subject to amended conditions.
Variation of a Premises Licence: The Last Tuesday Society, 11 Mare Street, Hackney, London, E8 4RP
The Licensing Sub-Committee approved the amended application to vary the premises licence for The Last Tuesday Society, located at 11 Mare Street, with the Licensing Authority withdrawing their representation after agreeing reduced hours with the Premises Licence Holder. The agreed hours for licensable activities are:
- Plays: Friday and Saturday 10:00 - 00:00
- Films: Friday and Saturday 10:00 - 00:00
- Live Music: Friday and Saturday 10:00 - 00:00
- Recorded Music: Friday and Saturday 10:00 - 00:00
- Performance of Dance: Friday and Saturday 10:00 - 00:00
- Late Night Refreshment: Friday and Saturday 23:00 - 00:00
- Supply of Alcohol (on and off sales): Friday and Saturday 10:00 - 00:00
- Opening Hours: Friday and Saturday 10:00 - 00:00
The sub-committee also agreed to additional conditions, including:
- No refuse or bottles to be placed in external receptacles between 23:00 - 06:00.
The Licensing Sub-Committee approved the variation, as they were satisfied that the licensing objectives would not be undermined. The sub-committee considered that the premises has been operating as a museum and art gallery since 2016, making a cultural contribution to the community, with no complaints received. The premises is also a member of the Hackney Nights scheme1 and supports the Women’s Rights Charter2.
The sub-committee took into account the representations from a local resident, who thanked the Premises Licence Holder for reducing the hours, but raised concerns about increased noise and customers loitering outside. The sub-committee felt that the Premises Licence Holder demonstrated a willingness to work with local residents, but needed to tighten up their processes and procedures.
The sub-committee felt that the increased hours on Fridays and Saturdays would not make a significant difference to what occurs in the area and will not add to the cumulative impact3 in the area.
Premises Licence: Batch Baby, 43 De Beauvoir Road, London N1 5SF
The Licensing Sub Committee approved the premises licence for Batch Baby, located at 43 De Beauvoir Road, under delegated authority.
