Summary
The Cornwall Council Appeals Committee met on 11 August 2025, and Councillor James Ball was elected Chairman for the meeting. The committee then heard seven appeals for travel assistance to schools, and all seven appeals were refused.
School Transport Appeals
The Appeals Committee considered seven requests for travel assistance to schools across Cornwall. In each case, the committee voted to refuse the request.
The cases were:
- Travel Assistance to Bishop Cornish C of E VA Primary School from an address in Torpoint.
- Travel Assistance to Liskeard School and Community College from an address in Liskeard.
- Travel Assistance to Looe Community Academy from an address in Liskeard.
- Travel Assistance to Looe Community Academy (Case 2) from an address in Liskeard.
- Travel Assistance to Penair School from an address near Truro.
- Travel Assistance to Richard Lander School from an address near Newquay.
- Travel Assistance to The Roseland Academy from an address in St Austell.
The motions to refuse travel assistance in each case were moved by Councillor Brian Clemens or Councillor Jack Yelland, and seconded by Councillor Clemens or Councillor Yelland. Councillor James Ball also seconded one of the motions.
