Appointment of Managing Director for Greener Ealing Ltd
The Shareholder Committee was scheduled to discuss the appointment of a new Managing Director for Greener Ealing Ltd (GEL). According to the Public Reports Pack, the previous Managing Director, Kevin O'Leary, resigned in late April 2025, which triggered a recruitment process.
Tile Hill (Public Sector Executive Recruitment) was chosen to manage the recruitment. According to the report, Tile Hill had previously assisted Norfolk City Council and Epping Forest District Council with similar roles. The report stated that the role was advertised nationally, including a microsite containing information about GEL.
Following the recruitment process, the appointment panel offered the position to Katarina Pohancenikova, subject to the Shareholder Committee's approval. The committee was asked to approve both the appointment and the terms and conditions of the role. The report stated that the appointment would have no significant financial or budgetary impact, and that the terms and conditions were standard, including a 40-hour week, 24 days annual leave, a standard GEL sickness scheme, and a National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) pension.
The Public Reports Pack notes the legal implications of the appointment:
Clause 4.5 of that agreement requires the board of GEL to seek the council's approval prior to the appointment of a Managing Director. The board is also required to seek the council's approval of the terms and conditions of the Managing Director's appointment.
The report also notes how GEL aligns with the Ealing Council Plan 2022-2026, particularly in the areas of creating good jobs, tackling the climate crisis, and fighting inequality. Ealing Council Plan 2022-2026 sets out the council’s strategic objectives.
