Ola Awujari, the Licensing Officer, introduced the application, noting that one representation had been submitted by a member of the public, who was not present at the meeting. Mr Oliver Mead, the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) and licence holder for Craft Metropolis, explained that the extension was primarily for occasional special events, such as birthday parties, and not intended for regular use. He emphasised the responsible operation of the bar, including the employment of security to manage noise and ensure customer safety.

Councillor Tim Windle raised concerns about noise complaints and the proximity to residential properties. Mr Mead responded by detailing the measures taken to mitigate noise, including soundproofing and staff supervision of the alleyway outside the premises. He also mentioned direct communication with residents, providing them with his contact number to address any concerns.

Councillor Ibrahim Dogus inquired about the frequency of parties and whether a temporary licence would suffice. Mr Mead reiterated the need for flexibility to accommodate last-minute bookings and provide certainty to clients.

The committee acknowledged the concerns raised in the objection, which highlighted potential public nuisance and noise complaints due to the extended hours. However, they were satisfied that the modest extension would not undermine the licensing objectives, particularly concerning public nuisance. The committee also commended Mr Mead's engagement with residents and encouraged continued positive communication.

The committee determined that granting the application was appropriate and proportionate, stating that the licensing policy served as a guide and that each application should be considered on its individual merits.

Mowgli Home, 73 Streatham Hill

The application for Mowgli Home at 73 Streatham Hill was resolved without the need for a committee hearing. The application was for a new premises licence for live music and the sale of alcohol. The report prepared for the committee noted that two representations were received from residents, but one was later withdrawn after the objector was happy with the agreed conditions and CCTV locations.
