The Principal Select Committee of Ashfield District Council met on Thursday, 11th September 2025, to discuss the Corporate Plan Delivery Year-End 2024/25 and the Select Committee Work Programme 2025/26. The committee was scheduled to review the delivery achieved against the council's corporate plan priorities and levels of performance.
Corporate Plan Delivery
The Principal Select Committee was scheduled to discuss the Corporate Plan Delivery for the year ending March 2025. The report pack included a recommendation for the committee to review the levels of delivery achieved against the Corporate Plan Priorities, and the levels of performance achieved against the Corporate Scorecard as of March 2025.
The report stated that the council's ambitions for 2023-27 are identified in a set of revised and updated Corporate Priorities presented in the Corporate Plan. It noted that the Corporate Plan sits above a wider strategic context which includes the Corporate Project Management Framework, Corporate Performance Indicators and a range of strategic documents relating to the council and its services.
The report also mentioned that the council regularly engages with the Local Government Association (LGA) sector led improvement offer, and that a Corporate Peer Challenge (CPC) was undertaken between 4-7 June 2024. The published report stated that the council has a good, ambitious Corporate Plan with clear outcomes, commending the council on its strong financial position and recognising the delivery of good, solid services to local people.
The Corporate Plan's six priorities are:

- Homes and Housing
- Economic Growth and Place
- Cleaner and Greener
- Safer and Stronger
- Innovate and Improve
The report detailed progress against delivery of the Corporate Plan, and the April 2024 to March 2025 year-end performance position against the associated Corporate Performance Scorecard 'Delivery' key performance measures.
According to the report, 88% of measures achieved or exceeded their target, or were within 10% variance of their target. 85% of measures indicated an improved position compared to the same period in the previous year, or were within 5% of previous year's performance levels. 96% of actions were reportedly on target for completion, with 65% of those already completed.
The report also identified areas for improvement, including household waste recycling rates and community centre usage.
Select Committee Work Programme
The Service Manager for Governance requested that the committee consider and approve a new Select Work Programme for the 2025/26 municipal year. This required councillors to review the items remaining from the 2024/25 Work Programme and consider any new topics for inclusion as required.

The report pack stated that any future invites to Executive Lead Members to attend Committee and give updates in respect of their portfolios, would include a request for a briefing paper (for inclusion on the agenda), to enable councillors time to prepare for the update and the 'question and answer' session to be facilitated at the meeting.
