The Monmouthshire Transport Forum met on 19 September 2025 to discuss updates from Transport for Wales and Network Rail, as well as an update from Monmouthshire County Council (MCC). The meeting also scheduled time to confirm the date of the next meeting.
Transport Updates
The forum was scheduled to hear updates from several transport organisations:
Transport for Wales
James Nicholas from Transport for Wales was expected to provide an update on:
- Burns Stations
- New Services
- General matters
A question and answer session was also planned.
Network Rail
Louise Bungay-Azman and Tamison Painter from Network Rail were scheduled to discuss:
- Planned and recent improvement works
- General updates
This was also to be followed by a question and answer session.
Monmouthshire County Council
Christian Schmidt and Nick Tulp from Monmouthshire County Council were due to provide an update on:
- Interchange Projects
- Changes to Grant funding
A question and answer session was planned after the update.
Aims and Values of Monmouthshire County Council
The Public Reports Pack included a reminder of Monmouthshire County Council's aims and values.
The council's stated purpose is:
to become a zero-carbon county, supporting well-being, health and dignity for everyone at every stage of life.
The council is working towards the following objectives:
- A fair place to live where the effects of inequality and poverty have been reduced.
- A green place to live and work with reduced carbon emissions and making a positive contribution to addressing the climate and nature emergency.
- A thriving and ambitious place, where there are vibrant town centres and where businesses can grow and develop
- A safe place to live where people have a home where they feel secure in.
- A connected place where people feel part of a community and are valued.
- A learning place where everybody has the opportunity to reach their potential
