This briefing note summarises the agenda and reports pack for the Lead Member for Children's and Young People's Services Briefing at Salford City Council. Councillor Jim Cammell, Lead Member for Children’s and Young People’s Services, was scheduled to consider Local Authority (LA) governor appointments and re-appointments. The meeting was also scheduled to exclude the public for a Part Two discussion.
LA Governor Appointments and Re-Appointments
Councillor Jim Cammell was asked to consider nominations for LA governors. According to the report pack, under The School Governance (Constitution)(England) Regulations 2012, the LA is required to nominate prospective candidates for governor positions and ensure the procedures they have adopted for selecting their nominees meet the requirements of the statutory guidance
.
The nominations that were put forward for consideration were:
- Councillor Michelle Barnes for Light Oaks Junior School.
- Councillor Maria Brabiner for St Boniface RC Primary School.
- Mrs Anne Broomhead (re-appointment) for St Andrew’s CE Primary School Boothstown.
The report pack also noted that there were LA governor vacancies at:
- St Mary’s RC, Swinton Primary School.
- Holy Cross and All Saints RC Primary School.
Exclusion of the Public
The agenda for the meeting of the Lead Member for Children's and Young People's Services Briefing included a motion to exclude the public. The reason given was that the remaining items for discussion involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as specified in the relevant paragraphs of Part 1 of Schedule 12(A) to the Act
of the Government Act 1972.
