September 9, 2025 View on council websiteSummary
The Shared Services Appointments Panel met to discuss the appointment of a chair and to conduct interviews for the position of Director of Corporate Governance. The panel also considered excluding the public and press from part of the meeting.
Director of Corporate Governance Interview
The panel was scheduled to discuss the appointment of a Director of Corporate Governance. The agenda frontsheet for the meeting indicated that the panel would consider the job description for the role, as well as the CVs of candidates, feedback from officer interviews, and interview questions. These documents were listed as 'to follow' in the agenda.
The public reports pack included the job description for the Director of Corporate Governance role.
Exclusion of Public and Press
The panel was scheduled to consider excluding the public and press from the meeting during discussions of the Director of Corporate Governance Interview. The reason cited for this exclusion was that the discussion was expected to involve the disclosure of exempt information, as defined in Paragraphs 1 and 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 19721. The agenda frontsheet stated that information is exempt to the extent that:
in all the circumstances of the case, the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.
Appointment of Chair
The first item on the agenda was the appointment of a chair for the meeting.
