The Gedling Youth Council is scheduled to meet on Monday 22 September 2025. The agenda includes updates from the Youth Mayor and the Gedling Social Mobility Commission, as well as a discussion on health and wellbeing work with young people in Gedling. Members will also consider a proposal for a trip to Parliament at the invitation of Michael Payne, MP.

Health and Wellbeing Work with Young People

Fiona Hextall is scheduled to provide an overview of health and wellbeing work with young people and communities in Gedling. The council will also hear from guest speakers at future meetings on areas of interest, upcoming council consultations and other developments.

At the previous meeting on 28 July 2025, Jackie Wilson from Positively Empowered Kids (PEK) gave an overview of the organisation's aims and work programme. PEK has delivered a large-scale annual young people's festival at Nottingham Castle, pop-up events in Arnold Town Centre and a Killisick annual fun day. They have also worked with local primary schools on democratic leadership and mental health and wellbeing initiatives.

Jackie Wilson stressed the importance of ongoing safe spaces for young people to share concerns and develop skills for life, and said that PEK aims to develop Wellbeing Hubs for young people across the Borough.

Trip to Parliament

The Gedling Youth Council is scheduled to discuss a proposal for a trip to Parliament at the invitation of Michael Payne, MP. The proposed date and arrival time is Wednesday 29 October at 11.10am.

Fatimah Malik is scheduled to provide updates from the Gedling Social Mobility Commission, if any are available.
