September 24, 2025 View on council websiteSummary
The Planning Cabinet Advisory Group is scheduled to meet on Wednesday 24 September 2025. The meeting will include a discussion of key policy updates to the Regulation 19 MK City Plan 2050, and a review of the minutes from the previous meeting.
Regulation 19 MK City Plan 2050
The group is scheduled to receive a verbal update and presentation on the key policy updates of the Regulation 19 MK City Plan 2050.
The previous meeting in February heard that the consultation on the previous version of the plan, Regulation 18, received twice the response of the earlier Plan MK, with 600 representations and 7,000 comments.
The earlier meeting heard that the Planning Inspectorate offered an advisory service, who carried out a sense check on emerging plans. At that time, feedback had been positive, with provision for Gypsy and Traveler sites and transport identified as areas where additional evidence was needed.
The group previously heard that a number of Local Development Orders (LDOs) could be considered for Hanslope Park, Red Bull Campus, and Milton Keynes Hospital.
Previous Minutes
The minutes from the meeting of the Cabinet Advisory Group held on 13 February 2025 are scheduled to be agreed upon as an accurate record. At that meeting, the group discussed the Progressing the MKCP 2050 report.
The previous meeting heard that the local housing need for Milton Keynes dropped from 1,902 homes per year to 1,724 homes per year due to changes in the standard methodology and affordability ratios. The plan’s housing target remained ambitious at 63,000 homes, despite the lower local housing need.
The group previously heard concerns regarding lorry parking, and the negative impact this was having on local roads. Members stressed the need for lorry parking provision, and queried whether it was being included the developing plan, and whether there was the possibility of working with neighbouring authorities to provide more suitable warehousing and provision.
