The North Lincolnshire Standing Advisory Council (SACRE) met to discuss the proposed timescale and costing for updating the Agreed Syllabus for religious education in schools. The council reviewed the proposed timeline and costs associated with the syllabus update, but ultimately deferred the decision to the next meeting to allow for further clarification on the financial implications. The next meeting date was also set.

Agreed Syllabus Update

The main item on the agenda was a discussion of the proposed timescale and costing for updating the Agreed Syllabus for religious education in North Lincolnshire schools. The current syllabus needs updating to align with current Ofsted¹ regulations. The previous meeting on 3 June 2025 included a discussion of the need to update the current agreed syllabus and its implementation in schools. At that meeting, it was noted that feedback from the North and North East Lincolnshire Annual SACRE Conference had highlighted the need for clearer guidance on translating the syllabus themes into lessons. It was agreed that the syllabus should remain a legal framework and be rolled out to schools with professional support from the local authority for curriculum development.

The council considered the proposed timescale and costs associated with updating the syllabus. However, Councillor John Davison, Chair of the Humberside Police and Crime Panel, noted that further clarification was needed regarding the financial implications of the update.

Because of the need for further clarification, the decision was deferred to the next meeting.
