The committee was also scheduled to discuss DBS Checks for Councillors. This document was also due to be published before the meeting. Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks1 are used to ensure that people working with children and vulnerable adults are suitable to do so.

DBS checks are carried out by the Disclosure and Barring Service, an executive agency of the Home Office. They help employers make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. ↩
