September 30, 2025 View on council websiteSummary
The Licensing Sub Committee (Taxis) of Redditch Council is scheduled to meet on 30 September 2025 at the Arrow Valley Visitors Centre to discuss several applications for the renewal of taxi and private hire vehicle licences. The committee will also be asked to exclude the public and press from the meeting during the discussion of these applications.
Here are the topics that are listed on the agenda for discussion:
Applications for Vehicle Licence Renewals
The committee is scheduled to discuss three applications for the renewal of licences to use vehicles for taxi services. These include:
- An application for renewal of a licence to use a vehicle as a private hire vehicle.
- Two applications for renewal of licences to use vehicles as Hackney Carriages1.
The agenda indicates that the public and press may be excluded from the meeting during the discussion of these items, as they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information, as defined in the Local Government Act 1972[^3]. This includes information relating to:
- Any individuals
- Identity of individuals
- Financial or business affairs
- The prosecution of a crime
The agenda states that the procedure at the meeting will include an opportunity for the applicant/driver to be heard by the committee, and to be represented by a legal representative. The Technical Officer (Licensing), Worcestershire Regulatory Services will present a report, and the sub-committee members, the applicant/driver, and their representatives will be able to ask questions.
Exclusion of Public and Press
The committee will be asked to consider a resolution to exclude the public and press from the meeting during discussion of the applications for vehicle licence renewals. According to the agenda frontsheet, this is because, in the opinion of the Chief Executive, the meeting will not be, or is unlikely to be open to the Public at the time the following items of business are considered for the reasons stated
. The reasons stated relate to the disclosure of exempt information as defined in the Local Government Act 1972. [^3]
Other items
The meeting is also scheduled to include the election of a chair for the meeting, apologies for absence, and declarations of interest from councillors. Gavin Day, Democratic Services Officer, is listed as the point of contact for any queries regarding the agenda.
