The City of Edinburgh Council's Planning Local Review Body (Panel 1) is scheduled to convene to review several planning applications. The main focus will be on continued discussions regarding the replacement of existing telephone boxes with digital communication kiosks, as well as a new review for a timber-clad garden room. Councillors will also look over relevant policies and guidance.
Digital Communication Kiosks
The Panel is expected to continue discussions from their meeting on 13 August 2025, regarding several applications for the removal and replacement of existing telephone boxes with digital communication kiosks. These applications are:
- Frederick Street (at telephone box 10 metres east of)
- 4 South Charlotte Street (at telephone box 15 metres east of)
- South St Andrew Street (at telephone kiosk)
- 145 - 147 St John's Road (at telephone box 10 metres north of)
For each of these locations, the applicant has requested that the review proceeds based solely on the review documents. The Panel previously agreed to seek further information on the outcome of an advertisement appeal determined by the DPEA1.
At the meeting of 13 August 2025, the Panel agreed to continue consideration of the above application to get further information on the outcome of the advertisement appeal determined by the DPEA.
1 Glenlee Avenue, Willowbrae - Garden Room
The Panel is scheduled to consider a new review for a planning application at 1 Glenlee Avenue, Willowbrae concerning a new timber clad flat room garden room located in rear private garden
. As with the other applications, the applicant has requested that the review be based on the submitted documents only.
Relevant Policies and Guidance
The Panel is also expected to note extracts of relevant policies from the Edinburgh Local Development Plan and Non-Statutory Guidance.
