Summary
The Shareholder Committee met on Monday 20 October 2025 to approve the accounts of Greener Ealing Ltd (GEL) for the financial year 2024/25 and to appoint external auditors for the financial year 2025/26. The committee also approved the minutes of the previous meeting held on 26 August 2025.
Greener Ealing Ltd Accounts
The committee approved the Greener Ealing Ltd accounts for the financial year 2024/25 and the appointment of Beever and Struthers as external auditors for the financial year 2025/26.
The report presented to the committee noted that GEL had made a profit before taxation of £264,772 for the financial year, a decrease from the £320,935 profit in 2024. The Shareholder Agreement, approved in June 2025, requires the committee to consider the company's accounts and auditor's report, and to appoint the auditor.
Greener Ealing Ltd is described in the Public Reports Pack as:
a major employer within the borough across waste, recycling, street cleansing, grounds maintenance and parking enforcement services, supporting a number of social value based considerations as part of their approach.
The report also notes that the delivery of the GEL contract is a key aspect of the council's climate crisis strategy, with waste, recycling and grounds maintenance all making an important contribution. Councillor Paul Driscoll, Cabinet Member for Climate Action, will be pleased to hear that.
A further report on the company's reserves policy will be presented to a future meeting.
Minutes of the Previous Meeting
The committee approved the minutes of the meeting held on 26 August 2025. The minutes record that the committee agreed to appoint a new Managing Director for Greener Ealing Ltd, and agreed the terms and conditions attached to the appointment. The minutes of that meeting also record apologies from Nicky Fiedler, Strategic Director of Housing and Environment, and Peter George, Strategic Director of Housing and Environment. Mike Boult, Chair of Greener Ealing Ltd, attended the meeting online.
Exclusion of Press and Public
Prior to discussion of the Greener Ealing Ltd Accounts and the approval of the minutes, the committee resolved to exclude the press and public from the meeting due to the possible disclosure of exempt information, under Paragraph 3 Section 12A of the Local Government Act 19721.
