The Hounslow Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) met to discuss collective worship guidance, national and local updates, and action planning. The meeting was scheduled to take place at Edward Pauling Primary School1. Councillor Bandna Chopra and Councillor Madeeha Asim were scheduled to attend as the LA Representatives.
Collective Worship Guidance
The council was scheduled to discuss collective worship guidance, referring to the Hounslow Collective Worship Guidance document.
At the previous meeting on 7 July 2025, Stacey Burman, RE Advisor, presented slides on the Hounslow SACRE Determinations guidance. The council discussed what 'broadly Christian' means, defining it as:
It includes accepted Christian beliefs, reflected in other religions, drawn from different faiths, it also includes nonreligious beliefs.
The council also considered what collective worship looks like, and when a school should apply for a Determination2.
Local Updates
The council was scheduled to receive local updates on several topics:
- The SACRE Draft Annual Report Hounslow 2024-5.
- A newsletter for schools.
- Sikhi teaching in schools.
- Agreed Syllabus3 preparation for the AS Conference.
At the meeting on 7 July 2025, the council was also scheduled to discuss the SACRE constitution. Stacey Burman, RE Advisor, highlighted changes that had been made to the document. Jeremy Rodell observed that members should cross reference with appendix 2 of the constitution. The council scheduled a discussion on the membership list, and whether it should be removed.
National Updates
Stacey Burman, RE Advisor, was scheduled to provide national updates on:
- RE Hubs
- NASACRE4
- Interfaith Week, which runs from 9-15 November.
Action Planning
The council was scheduled to discuss action planning, referring to the Hounslow SACRE Action Plan September 2025.
