Summary
The Pewsey Area Board meeting included a workshop on food insecurity, updates from the chairman, and a review of funding applications and highway improvement projects. The board was also scheduled to note the minutes from the Local Highways and Footpath Improvement Group (LHFIG) meeting held on 22 October 2025.
Area Board Funding
The Pewsey Area Board was scheduled to consider grant applications for community projects. The following funding was available at the start of the year:
- £16,464 for Community Area Grants
- £7,500 for Older & Vulnerable grants
- £13,967 for Young People grants
The board was scheduled to review the following grant applications:
- Bedwyn Village Hall and Memorial Playing Field Charity requested £2,500 towards a new kitchen at Bedwyn Village Hall. The kitchen, which has not been updated since the 1980s, is in need of replacement cabinets, work tops, and updated appliances.
- Age UK Wiltshire requested £2,000 for their Arts and Friendship Clubs, which support older people in rural areas. According to the report pack, the funding would sustain three re-established Arts & Friendship Clubs, which run fortnightly, and directly benefit at least 20 people in the Pewsey area by reducing isolation and providing respite for carers.
Local Highways and Footpath Improvement Group
The Pewsey Area Board was scheduled to note the minutes and consider recommendations arising from the LHFIG meeting held on 22 October 2025.
The LHFIG asked the Area Board to add the following issues to the Priority Schemes List:
- A request for a post and socket for a Speed Indicator Device (SID) deployment in Beechingstoke The LHFIG also asked the Area Board to add funding to the following issues on the Priority Schemes List:
- £5,000 for a footway improvement on the A345 in Upavon
- £5,000 for a footway improvement on Rushall Elm Row
The LHFIG also recommended that the Area Board close the following issues:
- Great Bedwyn Browns Lane Village Gates
- Rushall Pewsey Road Footway Improvement
- East Grafton Wilton Road Access Protection Markings
- Woodborough The Sands Signpost
- A345 Woodbridge Upavon Road Pedestrians in Road Signs
- Milton Lilbourne Havering Lane No Through Road Sign
- Patney Speed Limit Repeater Signs
- Woodborough Replacement Public Footpath Sign
The LHFIG also discussed a number of ongoing issues, including:
- A request for a speed limit review on Woodborough Road, from Broad Street to Limberstone in Beechingstoke.
- A request from Great Bedwyn Parish Council for a street lighting survey on Brook Street and Jockey Green.
- A request from Manningford Parish Council for single track road / passing places signs on the C52 in Manningford.
- A request from North Newnton Parish Council for village gates to be installed northbound on the A345 Woodbridge Upavon Road.
- A request from Easton Royal Parish Council for surface treatment by Holy Trinity Church.
Chairman's Announcements
Councillor Jerry Kunkler, Pewsey (Chairman) was scheduled to provide an update on the Future Energy Landscape community engagement on renewable energy workshop held on 20 November 2025.
Food Insecurity Workshop
The Pewsey Area Board was scheduled to hold a workshop on food insecurity from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.
Minutes from Previous Meeting
The board was scheduled to approve and sign the minutes from the meeting held on 22 September 20251.
