Summary
The Wandsworth Health and Wellbeing Board is scheduled to meet on 4 December 2025 to discuss several key issues, including safeguarding adults, the health and wellbeing of children, and pharmaceutical needs in the borough. The board will also look at the findings of a study into adult social care.
Safeguarding Adults Board Annual Report
The board will be presented with the Annual Report of the Safeguarding Adults Board (SAB). The Safeguarding Adults Board is a multi-agency group that includes the council, NHS, police and other organisations, which is responsible for overseeing the safeguarding of adults at risk of abuse or neglect in Wandsworth.
The report is intended to provide assurance to the Health and Wellbeing Board about the effectiveness of adult safeguarding arrangements in Wandsworth. It will cover:
- How safeguarding adults services performed during the year.
- What the SAB has done to improve safeguarding.
- What the SAB plans to do in the coming year.
Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy: Start Well Update
The Health and Wellbeing Board is expected to discuss the Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy (JLHWS), focusing on the Start Well
priority, which concerns the health and wellbeing of children and young people. Councillor Judi Gasser, Cabinet Member for Children, will be present at the meeting. The JLHWS Start Well report includes updates on several initiatives and programmes aimed at supporting children and families in Wandsworth.
The report includes information on:
- School Readiness: This section will cover initiatives aimed at ensuring children are ready to start school, including early years education and support for parents.
- Childhood Obesity: This will provide an update on the prevalence of childhood obesity in Wandsworth and the programmes in place to address it.
- Mental Health: This section will focus on the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people, including access to mental health services and support in schools.
- Children and Young People's Health: This will cover a range of other issues affecting the health of children and young people, such as immunisation rates and access to healthcare.
Adult Social Care Health Study
The Health and Wellbeing Board will be presented with the Adult Social Care Health Study. Jeremy De Souza, Executive Director of Adult Social Care and Public Health, is expected to present the report. The study examines the health needs of adults receiving social care in Wandsworth, and is intended to help the council and its partners to plan and deliver services that meet the needs of this population.
The ASC Health Study report includes information on:
- Demographics: The age, gender, ethnicity and other characteristics of adults receiving social care in Wandsworth.
- Health Needs: The physical and mental health needs of this population, including the prevalence of long-term conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and dementia.
- Service Use: How adults receiving social care use health services, including hospital admissions, GP visits and use of community health services.
- Barriers to Access: The barriers that adults receiving social care face in accessing health services, such as transport difficulties, communication problems and lack of awareness of available services.
Wandsworth Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2025
The board is scheduled to discuss the Wandsworth Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) 2025. The PNA is a comprehensive assessment of the pharmaceutical needs of the local population, and is used to inform the commissioning of pharmacy services in the borough. Shannon Katiyo, Director of Public Health, is expected to present the report.
The PNA includes information on:
- Demographics: The age, gender, ethnicity and other characteristics of the population of Wandsworth.
- Health Needs: The health needs of the population, including the prevalence of long-term conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and asthma.
- Pharmacy Services: The current provision of pharmacy services in Wandsworth, including the number and location of pharmacies, the services they provide and the opening hours.
- Unmet Needs: Any gaps in the provision of pharmacy services, and any unmet needs of the population.
Work Programme
The board will receive a report on its work programme. The Work Programme outlines the topics that the board plans to discuss at future meetings.
