The Cornwall Council Appeals Committee met on Monday 1 December 2025, chaired by Councillor James Ball. The committee considered requests for travel assistance to seven schools and colleges, ultimately refusing assistance in six cases and deferring a decision on one.

School Transport Appeals

The committee reviewed seven requests for travel assistance to schools and colleges. In each case, the press and public were excluded from the meeting because the discussions involved disclosure of exempt information relating to individuals, as permitted under the Local Government Act 1972¹.

The decisions made were as follows:

• Altarnun Primary School: A decision on travel assistance for a pupil attending Altarnun Primary School https://www.google.com/maps/search/Altarnun+Primary+School+Cornwall/ from their home in Launceston was deferred.
• Cornwall College St Austell: The request for travel assistance for a student attending Cornwall College St Austell from their home in Launceston was refused.
• Cubert School: The request for travel assistance for a pupil to attend Cubert School from an address near Newquay was refused.
• Helston Community College: The request for travel assistance for a pupil attending Helston Community College from their home in Falmouth was refused.
• Looe Community Academy: The request for travel assistance for a pupil to attend Looe Community Academy from their home in Liskeard was refused.
• St Stephens CP School (Saltash): The request for travel assistance for a pupil to attend St Stephens CP School in Saltash from their home in Saltash was refused.
• Goonhavern Primary School: The request for travel assistance for a pupil to attend Goonhavern Primary School from their home in Perranporth was refused.
