The Mayor's Charity Appeal Fund Meeting is scheduled to take place on 8 December 2025. Distribution of Funds 2024-25

Councillors are scheduled to discuss and agree on the proposed amounts to be distributed to identified charities from the Mayor's Charity Appeal Fund 2024-25.

The report pack includes a Distribution List Of Monies Raised By Councillor Mohammad Islam, Mayor of Enfield 2024-25, which totals £9,388. The proposed recipients are:

Mayor's Charity Appeal Fund 2025-26

The trustees are scheduled to discuss and agree to proceed with the charities chosen by the Mayor of Enfield 2025-26, Councillor Margaret Greer. According to the Charities 2025 - Description And Charity Numbers document, these are:

• Royal Free Charity North Mid Red Cell services fund: This fund supports adult and paediatric red cell services at North Middlesex University Hospital. It aims to develop services, provide education opportunities for staff, and enable access to additional equipment.
• The Black Heritage Hub (BHH): Described as a dynamic umbrella organisation committed to uplifting and transforming the lives of the Black community in Enfield and beyond , the BHH aims to create a business and cultural hub that promotes cultural identity and economic empowerment. The trustees previously agreed to support this Community Interest Company¹.
• Macmillan Cancer Support: The report pack mentions Mr Hayes Rees, a local resident who raises funds for Macmillan in memory of his grandmother. Macmillan provides support to people affected by cancer.

Officer's Report on Mayor's Charity Appeal Fund 2024-25 and Unaudited Accounts

The committee will receive the Officer's Report on the Mayor of London Borough of Enfield Charity Appeal Fund 2024-25, and the final unaudited accounts and auditors report for 2024-25.

Internal Audit reviewed the financial statements and accounting records provided and, according to the report pack, their review has not identified any significant concerns regarding the accuracy and completeness of the accounting records . They confirmed that the total amount available for distribution in relation to 2024 – 25 is £9388.

The Unaudited Accounts and Trustees Annual Report included in the report pack states that the charity was established by Trust Deed dated 30 June 1981. The trustees' report describes the charity's objectives:

The Charity is established to further such exclusive charitable objects of the Mayor of Enfield from time to time by written appointment, and subject thereto the Trustees may from time to time at their discretion determine. Funds raised will be passed back in to the community, helping support activities and services that are vital to many residents, helping them become sustainable in the future. Youths are of particular focus, assisting to improve their future and reaching their full potential.

The report states that there is a standard custom to retain a balance of £500 each year to meet incidental expenses between Mayoral years.
