The Lambeth Council Licensing Committee meeting was adjourned to a date in early January 2026 to allow committee members and officers more time to review additional papers related to the gambling policy. This decision was made after concerns were raised about the timing of the publication of the papers following the public consultation. All ten members of the licensing subcommittee will be invited to contribute at the rescheduled meeting.
Lambeth Statement of Principles for Gambling 2025-2028
The main item on the agenda was the consideration of the Lambeth Statement of Principles for Gambling 2025-2028. However, due to the late publication of additional papers following the public consultation, Councillor David Robson, Chair of Licensing, proposed adjourning the meeting to allow sufficient time for review.
Councillor Robson stated:
I'm proposing to adjourn tonight's licensing subcommittee to hear the gambling policy. This is due to sufficient time to review the additional papers that committee have received within the last 24 hours that were published following the closing of the public consultation on the 8th of December, of which there was some substantial papers that I believe not only the committee but for officers to receive. And further to this, I want to ensure that all 10 of the licensing subcommittee need to be invited to offer their contributions at a new date that will be set in the new year.
The motion to adjourn was agreed by the committee. The agenda included several appendices related to the gambling policy, including a summary of changes and a summary of the policy.
