The Health and Social Care Scrutiny Commission of Southwark Council was scheduled to discuss menopause, nursing care home space standards, and access to toilets. The commission was also due to review its work programme.

Menopause

The commission was scheduled to receive a presentation on menopause from Mr Haitham Hamoda MD FRCOG, a Consultant Gynaecologist and Clinical Lead for the Menopause Service at King's College Hospital. Mr Hamoda is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at King's College London and a Trustee and Past Chair of the British Menopause Society. Following this, the local NHS was expected to provide an update on menopause and local practice. A document titled Local Practice Menopause in Southwark was available for reference.

Nursing Care Home Space Standards

Dr Martin Quirke, a Senior Architect (DSDC) and Lecturer in Design for Ageing and Dementia at the University of Stirling, was scheduled to attend virtually to present on nursing care home space standards.

Access to Toilets - Update

An update on the issue of access to toilets was scheduled to be presented to the commission. An Updated report on Access to Toilets was provided as a background document.

Work Programme

The commission was scheduled to discuss its work programme. A document titled Work Programme covering report and another titled Workplan were available for review. The commission was also to discuss any other open items notified at the start of the meeting.

The meeting was scheduled to take place at 160, Tooley Street, SE1 2QH, with Councillor Suzanne Abachor serving as Chair and Councillor Maria Linforth-Hall as Vice-Chair. The commission's membership also included Councillors Esme Dobson, Sandra Rhule, Nick Johnson, Charlie Smith, and Naima Ali.
