Summary
The Merton Council Design Review Panel is scheduled to meet on Wednesday 4 February 2026 to discuss one pre-application for a development in Wimbledon town centre. The meeting will be held online and is not open to public attendance, though it will be recorded and posted on the council's YouTube channel for later viewing. The panel will review the proposal and provide a RAG (Red, Amber, Green) verdict1 on the scheme.
St. George's East Redevelopment
The panel is scheduled to discuss a pre-application for the redevelopment of the St. George's East office building, located on St. George's Road in Wimbledon town centre. According to the agenda, the proposal involves:
Redevelopment of existing 1980s office and retail building and replacement with new building containing retail, commercial, social housing and primarily co-living residential use.
The case officer for this application is David Gardener.
The Public reports pack notes that previous proposals for redeveloping the site for office use were reviewed on 30 July 2020 and 23 February 2021, and both received an AMBER verdict. The proposals went on to gain planning consent 21/P3163.
The site is covered by the FutureWimbledon SPD2.
