February 11, 2026 at 10:00 am View on council websiteSummary
The Cabinet of Hertfordshire Council is scheduled to consider several items related to the future of council-owned properties. These include discussions on the former Hexton JMI School, Heath Barn in Hemel Hempstead, and land holdings at Ickleford.
Future of Former Hexton JMI School
The meeting agenda indicates that the future of the former Hexton JMI School site will be a topic for discussion. The report pack notes that papers relating to this item will be considered in private session, as they contain information concerning the financial and business affairs of the County Council and/or another person. The public interest in maintaining exemptions is stated to outweigh the public interest in disclosing the information.
Future of Heath Barn, Hemel Hempstead
Consideration is also scheduled for the future of Heath Barn, located in Hemel Hempstead. Similar to the Hexton JMI School item, the associated papers are intended to be discussed in a private session. This is due to the nature of the information, which relates to financial and business affairs, and where the public interest in exemption is deemed to outweigh the public interest in disclosure.
Future of Land Holdings at Ickleford
The agenda also lists the future of land holdings at Ickleford for discussion. As with the other property-related items, the relevant documents are scheduled to be considered in private. The rationale for this is that the papers contain information relating to financial and business affairs, and the public interest in maintaining exemptions is considered to be greater than the public interest in disclosure.
The notice regarding these private sessions was issued by Quentin Baker, Director of Law & Governance, on 12 January 2026, in accordance with The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meetings and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 20121.
-
The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meetings and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 2012 are statutory rules that govern how local authority executive decisions are made and how information relating to these decisions is made public. They allow for certain information to be considered in private if its disclosure would be prejudicial to the commercial interests of the council or another party. ↩
