The Licensing Sub-Committee of Hammersmith and Fulham Council met on Wednesday 15 April 2026 to consider a premises licence application for Arianna Trattoria Romana at 787 Fulham Road. The committee granted the licence with modified conditions, notably restricting the use of the rear garden area.

The Licensing Sub-Committee considered an application for a new premises licence for Arianna Trattoria Romana, located at 787 Fulham Road, London SW6 5HD. The application, submitted by V A Trade Services Ltd, sought permission for the supply of alcohol and the playing of recorded music.

During the meeting, residents raised significant objections, primarily concerning the proposed use of the rear garden area. Concerns included noise disturbance, potential for increased pests, and the impact on residents' privacy and quality of life. Residents also expressed worries about smells travelling up staircases and the potential devaluation of their properties.

Gerardo Aprovitolo, the solicitor for the applicant, offered to withdraw the use of the garden for commercial purposes. This offer was welcomed by the objectors. Following this, the committee discussed the implications of this offer and confirmed that such an agreement could be made a binding condition of the licence.

The committee also heard from Neil Gardner, interim licensing officer, and discussed the previous licence for the premises, which had lapsed. The Metropolitan Police had agreed to certain conditions with the applicant, focusing on crime prevention and public safety.

After deliberation, the committee decided to grant the licence with modified conditions. The key decision was to significantly restrict the hours and usage of the rear garden area. The garden will now only be available for patrons during specific, limited hours: Monday to Friday from 12:30 PM to 7:00 PM, and on weekends and bank holidays from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Outside of these times, the garden must be clear of all patrons. The applicant also agreed to conditions regarding background music only, a prominent sign requesting patrons to leave quietly, and that alcohol sales would be ancillary to food. The committee also confirmed that the applicant would be responsible for ensuring patrons do not congregate outside the premises late at night.

The decision was made with a view to promoting the four licensing objectives: the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, the prevention of public nuisance, and the protection of children from harm. The committee noted that licensing and planning considerations are separate, and their decision was based solely on the licensing objectives.
