The Licensing Sub-Committee of Hammersmith and Fulham Council met on Wednesday 22 April 2026 to consider the renewal of a Sexual Entertainment Venue (SEV) licence for Secrets at 62 Glenthorne Road, London, W6 0LR. The committee decided to grant the renewal of the licence.

Renewal of Sexual Entertainment Venue Licence for Secrets

The committee granted the renewal of the Sexual Entertainment Venue (SEV) licence for Secrets, located at 62 Glenthorne Road, London, W6 0LR. The application sought to continue the existing licence, which permits the venue to operate from Monday to Friday between 21:00 and 04:00, Saturdays from 18:00 to 04:00, and Sundays from 18:00 to 00:00. No changes to the operating schedule or hours were proposed by the applicant, Secrets Hammersmith Ltd.

During the consultation period, two objections were received from local residents, citing concerns about the venue's proximity to schools and nurseries, its location within a predominantly residential area, and the potential for late-night nuisance. Anna, one of the objectors, expressed concerns about children being exposed to inappropriate imagery and behaviour, stating, This is the closest proximity we have in the virtual, in the real world, sorry, to that kind of protection, is to make sure that when we choose the location of sexual entertainment venues and other things that may not be suitable to children, we choose them carefully and we choose to make sure that they are placed away from curious minds of children wherever possible. She also highlighted concerns about public safety for women walking home late at night due to cars parked outside the venue and the presence of loitering individuals.

Two letters of support were also submitted, with one from Dmitrii, a self-described regular visitor and local resident, who stated, In my experience, the club is well managed, professional, and respectful towards both its customers and the surrounding community. Another supporter noted positive experiences with the staff and security, and observed additional signage regarding rules on a recent visit.

Sarah Le Fevre, representing the applicant, emphasised that Secrets has operated at the site since 1997 with a positive working relationship with the police and responsible authorities. She highlighted that the venue had undergone significant investment and transformation from a previous nightclub operation. Le Fevre also pointed to the council's policy, which creates a presumption to grant a renewal application when there are no proposed changes to the operating schedule or conditions. She stated, There has been no issue there's no issue raised by the police or any other responsible authority there's been no complaint.

The committee considered the arguments presented and, in line with the council's Sex Establishment Policy1, granted the renewal. The policy states that where an Application is made to renew a Licence for the same activity, hours of operation and conditions as previously licensed, there will be a presumption to grant the renewal application. The committee noted that no responsible authorities had raised objections and that the concerns raised by objectors were largely related to the character of the locality and proximity to schools, which had been considered during previous renewals. The committee also noted the applicant's agreement to implement enhanced CCTV conditions, as detailed in Appendix 4 of the reports pack2.
