B4102 Fillongley Road, Fillongley Crossroads Junction CRS
The meeting was scheduled to consider proposals for the B4102 Fillongley Road, Fillongley Crossroads Junction CRS. The report pack detailed a casualty reduction scheme aimed at addressing a high annual collision rate at this location. It was noted that previous engineering measures had minimal impact, and the proposed introduction of traffic signals was intended to significantly reduce the current collision pattern. The report outlined that a public consultation had been undertaken, and a number of objections were received, which were to be considered. The report recommended the approval of the introduction of traffic signals with pedestrian facilities at the junction.
Proposed Signalisation of Existing Junction Tamworth Road (B4098) / Atherstone Road (B4116), Furnace End
A proposal to introduce traffic signals with pedestrian facilities at the Tamworth Road (B4098) / Atherstone Road (B4116) junction in Furnace End was scheduled for discussion. This junction has also been identified as a location with a long-standing pattern of high annual collision rates. Previous measures such as improved signage and lining had reportedly had minimal impact. The report indicated that a public consultation had taken place, and nine objections were received. The report recommended the approval of the introduction of traffic signals with pedestrian facilities at this junction.
Extension of 50mph Speed Limit at Ettington Crossroads, Fosse Way Scheme
The meeting was also scheduled to consider the extension of a 50mph speed limit at Ettington Crossroads on the Fosse Way. This proposal was part of a wider programme of works along the Fosse Way aimed at addressing illegal and inappropriate speeding, particularly among young drivers. The report stated that the existing section of road was subject to the National Speed Limit, and the proposal was to reduce this to 50mph, extending an existing 50mph restriction. A public consultation was conducted, and 30 objections were received, including one from the local Councillor. The report recommended the approval of the proposed Speed Variation Order.
