The Pewsey Area Board is scheduled to meet on Wednesday 18 March 2026 to consider a range of community funding applications and to review progress on local highway and footpath improvements. The meeting will also address any urgent items raised by the Chairman.
Area Board Funding
The board will consider applications for various grants, including Community Area Grants, Youth Grants, and grants for Older and Vulnerable People. Among the applications to be reviewed is one for the Pewsey Shed project, which seeks £3,500 towards establishing a community shed at Pewsey Vale Campus. The report outlines that setup costs are estimated at £50,000 for design, planning, build, and equipping the shed.
Other funding requests include £5,000 for Wilcot Cricket Club to cover the costs of providing and maintaining pitches, £500 for Pewsey Rugby Football Club Ltd for outside seating, £2,000 for Upavon Parish Council for Blue Bus monthly services for young people, and £1,796 for Wootton Rivers Village Hall for recreation ground equipment replacement. Local Highway and Footpath Improvement Group
The meeting agenda includes a review of the minutes from the Local Highway and Footpath Improvement Group (LHFIG) meeting held on 18 February 2026. The report details numerous highway and footpath issues and recommendations across various parishes within the Pewsey Area.
Key items scheduled for consideration include:
- Chirton Parish Council's request for a 20mph speed limit assessment, which has an estimated implementation cost of £6,512.97.
- The ongoing work on Woodborough C261 (West End of village) to extend kerbing and/or footway, which was halted due to safety concerns regarding an electrical cable.
- Rushall Parish Council's submission regarding Elm Row Phase 3, for which a road closure has been booked with work expected to take no more than three weeks.
- Upavon Parish Council's request for a footway link from Riverside Park to the village centre on the A345, with an estimated cost of £45,041.44. A bid for Substantive Schemes funding has been submitted.
- Shalbourne Parish Council's request for a speed limit review in Oxenwood, where interim costs stand at £8,113.27.
- Wilcot, Huish and Oare PC's request for bus stop infrastructure and a footpath link on the A345 at the junction with Sunnyhill Lane.
- Pewsey Parish Council's request for Children Crossing Warning Signs on Broomcroft Road.
- Manningford Parish Council's request for a speed limit review on C52 between Manningford and Wilcot, with an estimated implementation cost of £14,500.
- Beechingstoke Parish Council's request for a village gate and nameplate on Broad Street, which has been installed at a cost of £1,568.23.
- Shalbourne Parish Council's request for calming measures on Bagshot to encourage lower speeds.
- Rushall Parish Council's submission for Phase 4 of the Elm Row footway improvement.
- Froxfield Parish Council's request for two new crossing points with refuge islands on the A4. An assessment report recommends a crossing point approximately 40m north of the junction of Brewhouse Hill, with an estimated construction cost of £20,000.
- Easton Royal Parish Council's request for surface treatment by Holy Trinity Church on High Street, for which the Parish is unable to raise funds for their contribution.
- Beechingstoke Parish Council's request for a speed limit review on Woodborough Road.
- Great Bedwyn Parish Council's request for street lighting surveys on Brook Street and Jockey Green.
- Manningford Parish Council's request for single track road/passing places signs and verge marker posts on Abbots Lane.
- North Newnton Parish Council's request for village gates on A345 Woodbridge Upavon Road and a speed limit review on the same road.
- Grafton Parish Council's request for horse warning signs on the A338 junction of West Grafton.
- Wilcot, Huish & Oare Parish Council's request for a ground socket and post for SID deployment on C52.
- Manningford Parish Council's request for direction signs for Manningford Village Hall.
- Froxfield Parish Council's request for

signs on C194. - North Newnton Parish Council's request for a speed limit review on A345 North Newnton (Woodbridge) Upavon Road.
- North Newnton Parish Council's request for a footway on the eastern side of the A345.
- Shalbourne Parish Council's request for a speed limit review on the A338.
- Wilcot, Huish & Oare Parish Council's request for a priority narrowing feature on the A345 Oare, near the junction with Huish Lane.
The report also notes the deadline for submitting LHFIG requests, which is two weeks prior to the meeting. Future meeting dates for the LHFIG are scheduled for 13 May, 22 July, 21 October 2026, and 3 February 2027, with meetings to be held online.

The agenda allows for any other items of business which the Chairman agrees to consider as a matter of urgency.

The Pewsey Area Board has scheduled future meetings for 8 June 2026 at Great Bedwyn Memorial Hall and a date to be confirmed for 2 November 2026.
