Now gonna move over to the open forum agenda item number five and before we do that i'm just gonna do a quick preamble because i didn't do it last time and um i'm gonna do it this time just for clarity's sake all right so the open forum provides an opportunity for residents to share their ideas debate local topics of importance and voice their concerns to councillors and other key representatives from the council those participating in the open forum are asked to note the following questions will be allowed by me at discretion and items submitted to me in advance for the meeting are always welcome it helps me to structure the open forum i will normally allow only one question per item at my discretion i can ask for further questions items on the main agenda should not be raised in the open forum individual cases and this is very important individual cases and really shouldn't be discussed in the open forum and i would urge residents to have individual issues that they want to address to let myself or the officers who are wondering the floor know and they will direct you to that you're bringing to their attention having said that the open forum is now open which allows residents to discuss whatever topic they would like

Thank you very much uh taz inda and kapil um we all feel very very energized after that presentation but isn't it wonderful that this group of young lads here see change um have managed to pack in a lot of a lot of stuff and i hope with the council support they continue to thrive and engage with the communities um creating volunteering opportunities well-being and uh training opportunities for our youth during winter things don't need to shut down although it feels like shutting down here i think the heating's been turned off in here but uh yeah during the winter period there's there's lots happening you can quite clearly see so do take the opportunity to visit their website and get engaged with all the activities that are available to you

Okay mr rosser thank you for your question and you're absolutely right this this issue is a long-standing issue and i think it's incumbent upon the the government to work with local councils to find a remedy for this very very serious issue the issue is not going to be resolved by this area forum but having it minted is a step in the right direction and i suspect that we may try and get a response from our own council's homeless division as to inform you as to what interaction if any we're having with the government to alleviate the concerns for refugees all right* Fly-tipping: Responding to a resident's concerns about fly-tipping, he assured that finding and prosecuting culprits is a priority and encouraged discussion with ward councillors, noting that officers were already addressing the issue.
Thank you very very much for your own observations and and bringing this matter to our attention um i'm going to bring in some local ward councillors and and uh the the lead member on this in a moment but i can rest assured but rest assured as far as the councillors are sitting here and and the other borough councillors and this issue about fly tipping and finding the the culprits is is paramount i'm i'm all with you on that i think we're all with you that the culprits need to be found and prosecuted wherever we can but some of these people who are doing it are very very clever in the manner that they do it but since you've actually brought forward evidence um in your in your own time to officers and you seem to have a have made quite a lot of inroads you've spoken to quite a lot of officers i would suspect and i would hope very much gay that um when we do uh look into the background of what shafiq has brought to us and the officers are already moved on this particular issue and addressed it but we'll try and find out where this has ended up and so if you can discuss that with your ward councillors afterwards that would be good now i think some ward councillors want to shed a light* Homelessness Among Refugees: He acknowledged the urgency of the issue of homelessness among refugees, requesting a response within a week and suggesting that individual cases be referred to local councillors for quicker case work. So it's a very important point because we can't wait till the next forum for an answer because it's very cold already and we're already um in a situation where a lot of the refugees are being turfed out of the hotel um they're they're looking for friends or other volunteers in the hags to sleep on their floors and we you know appreciate that you're going to look into this but if you could please come back to us much sooner than the forum maybe within the next week or so then at least we can communicate that to to the vulnerable people who will otherwise be on our streets so i just wanted to reinforce the urgency of it um but on that um i think uh it wants further discussion um for sure um if there are individual cases where um people are in distress um they can always be referred via their local councillors for a quicker response in terms of case work if there are individual cases which need it can be picked up by local councillors as and when um but please bear in mind that it it it's a controversial area and there's obviously um limited powers available to the council but definitely there is a policy and a protocol in place for who are in a vulnerable situation such as this
