At a meeting of the Southwark Council Assembly, Councillor Sarah King was elected as the new Leader of the Council, and the cabinet will remain unchanged at present. Councillors debated a motion on community safety, and also discussed motions relating to welfare cuts, making space for girls in parks, a tourist tax, and limiting gambling premises. The assembly also approved a waiver for Councillor Maggie Browning's attendance due to maternity leave, and reviewed the Treasury Management Outturn report for 2024-25.

Licensing Sub-Committee - Thursday 26 June 2025 10.00 am

The Licensing Sub-Committee of Southwark Council convened a meeting to address a premises licence application and other standard items. Councillor Margy Newens, Deputy Cabinet Member for a Cleaner Southwark, Councillor Andy Simmons, and Councillor Kath Whittam were scheduled to be in attendance. The primary focus of the meeting was to be the consideration of a new premises licence for The Pyrotechnist's Arms.

Audit, Governance and Standards Committee - Monday 2 June 2025 6.30 pm

The Audit, Governance and Standards Committee met on Monday to discuss cyber security, internal and external audits, and the establishment of sub-committees. The committee was also scheduled to have a governance conversation with Darren Summers, Strategic Director of Integrated Health and Care. Finally, the committee was expected to review and agree on a work programme for 2025-26.

Audit, Governance and Standards Committee - Saturday 17 May 2025 12.00 pm

The Audit, Governance and Standards Committee met on Saturday 17 May 2025 to discuss the formation of sub-committees. The committee voted to establish two sub-committees: one to handle complaints of misconduct against elected councillors and co-opted members, and another to consider civic awards. The decision on the membership of these sub-committees was deferred to the next committee meeting.

Annual and Mayor Making meeting, Council Assembly - Saturday 17 May 2025 11.00 am

The annual meeting of the Southwark Council Assembly included the election of Councillor Sonny Lambe as the Mayor of Southwark for 2025-2026, and considered reports on executive functions, committee appointments, and scrutiny activity. Councillor Sabina Emmanuel was appointed as Deputy Mayor.
