Extraordinary Council Meeting, Council - Thursday 23 October 2025 6.00 pm
The Hackney Council meeting on 23 October 2025 convened to address a cross-party motion concerning the council's ties with Israel amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The council did not carry the original motion put forward by the Green Party and Hackney Independent Socialist Group. Instead, the council voted to approve recommendations outlined in the Labour group's amended motion.
Licensing Sub Committee E - Wednesday 8 October 2025 11.00 am, NEW
The Hackney Council Licensing Sub-Committee E convened to address concerns regarding several Temporary Event Notices (TENs) submitted for Hatch Homerton, a cafe bar located at Unit G2, 8 Mackintosh Lane, London E9 6AB. The committee decided to issue counter notices for all four TENs, effectively preventing the proposed events from taking place. Councillor Gilbert Smyth was elected as Chair of the meeting.
Licensing Sub Committee D - Wednesday 1 October 2025 2.00 pm
Licensing Sub Committee D of Hackney Council is scheduled to meet on Wednesday 1 October 2025 to discuss several licensing issues. These include applications for a new premises licence, and to vary an existing premises licence, as well as a standing item on temporary event notices. The meeting will also cover procedural matters such as the election of a chair and review of the minutes from the previous meeting.

The Hackney Council Cabinet met on 22 September 2025, and among the decisions made, they approved a new Tenancy Management Housing Policy, adopted the Hackney Ways of Working proposals, and approved a series of capital projects, including improvements to Morningside School and Hackney Town Hall. They also discussed the council's overall financial position, with a reported overspend of £9.787m.
