The Overview & Scrutiny Board met on 8 January 2025 and unanimously upheld a requisition to call in a Cabinet decision regarding the office-to-residential conversion of Chesham House to accommodate homeless families. The Board's decision means the Cabinet will need to reconsider its original decision.

The Havering Council's Overview and Scrutiny Board met to discuss budget savings, HR metrics, the improvement and transformation action plan, and cabinet responses to scrutiny recommendations. Councillors reviewed progress on savings targets, scrutinised workforce data, and discussed the future of the Havering Volunteer Centre. The board also considered how to improve the scrutiny process itself.

The Havering Health and Wellbeing Board met to discuss a pharmaceutical needs assessment, a healthy weight strategy, and suicide prevention, as well as to receive a briefing on the NHS's 10-year plan. The board delegated authority to the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) steering group to approve the final report, and agreed for the Tobacco Harm Reduction Strategy to proceed to cabinet for adoption.

The Overview and Scrutiny Board met to discuss the council's savings progress, HR metrics, customer service strategy, and annual report. Councillors expressed concerns about savings targets, agency worker usage, sickness absence, and the need for improved customer service. The board approved its annual report for submission to the full council.
