The Economy and Enterprise Overview and Scrutiny Committee met on 15 September 2025, and members reviewed the work of the County Durham Economic Partnership, the progress of Strategic Place Plans, the council's financial performance, and the latest performance data against the Council Plan 2024-28. Standards Committee - Friday 12 September 2025 9.30 am

The Durham County Council Standards Committee met on 12 September 2025 to discuss several key issues, including updates to the Code of Conduct, the national standards picture, the Debate Not Hate campaign, and the recruitment of independent persons. The committee agreed to extend the term of one independent person, noted that another was stepping down, and agreed to proceed with shortlisting candidates for two new independent persons at a meeting on 1 December 2025. The committee also discussed the recruitment of town and parish council co-opted members and reviewed the committee's work programme for 2025/26.

Safer and Stronger Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday 10 September 2025 9.30 am

The Safer and Stronger Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the latest performance data for the council, and to evaluate the impact of Operation Trailblazer, a project designed to tackle anti-social behaviour. The committee noted the Quarter Four Performance Management Report, which highlighted both positive achievements and areas needing improvement, and reviewed the findings of the Operation Trailblazer evaluation, which will inform future strategies for tackling anti-social behaviour.

Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Management Board - Thursday 4 September 2025 9.30 am

The Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Management Board (COSMB) met on 4 September 2025, to discuss a range of topics including a review of the Local Council Tax Reduction Scheme, the council's financial outturn, performance management reporting, and scrutiny development. The board also received updates on petitions and key decisions.

Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Management Board - Thursday 31 July 2025 2.00 pm

The Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Management Board were scheduled to meet to discuss the Reform Interim Priorities and Council Plan. The report pack included a recommendation to note the proposed framework as the interim strategic direction of the council’s priorities, and to contribute to the consultation of the proposed framework to inform the development on a new council plan for 2025-2030. This plan is intended to reflect the priorities of the new administration following the local elections in May 2025.
