THE DRILL HOTEL, Licensing Sub-Committee - Monday, 10th November, 2025 10.30 am
The Licensing Sub-Committee is scheduled to convene to consider an application to vary a premises licence for The Drill Hotel on Brentwood Road in Romford. The application, submitted by Star Pubs Trading Limited, seeks to extend the hours for licensable activities and the premises' opening hours, as well as to permit licensable activities to continue on New Year's Eve until the end of permitted hours on New Year's Day. Councillors Philippa Crowder, Chair of the Licensing Sub-Committee, Jane Keane and Christine Smith are expected to attend.
People Overview & Scrutiny Sub Committee - Thursday, 6th November, 2025 7.00 pm
The People Overview & Scrutiny Sub Committee were scheduled to discuss a new corporate parenting strategy, review foster carer allowances, consider a vulnerable person policy for council tenants, and discuss an employment charter for autistic people and people with learning disabilities.
Joint Health Overview & Scrutiny Committee - Thursday, 23rd October, 2025 4.00 pm
The Joint Health Overview & Scrutiny Committee met to discuss updates from local health providers, including Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) and North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT), as well as to examine ways to improve GP access, hearing a case study from Maylands Healthcare. The committee heard that BHRUT is struggling with mental health admissions and is about to launch a new electronic patient record system, and that NELFT is working to improve community health services and mental health support. The committee also discussed the financial challenges facing the NHS in North East London.
