Executive - Thursday, 22nd January, 2026 5.00 pm
The Executive of Islington Council met on 22 January 2026 to discuss a range of important matters, including the draft budget proposals for 2026/27 and the Medium-Term Financial Strategy. The meeting also covered progress reports on the LGA Corporate Peer Challenge and the council's risk management framework. Additionally, the Executive was scheduled to review community development plans for the Cally area, strategies for resident involvement in landlord services, and proposals for the future of public lighting. Finally, plans for the procurement and delivery of the Finsbury Wellbeing Campus were on the agenda.
Pensions Committee - Monday, 8th December, 2025 7.00 pm
The Islington Pensions Committee was scheduled to meet to discuss fund performance, the Funding Strategy Statement, and the London CIV. Councillor Paul Convery, Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee and the Pensions Committee, was expected to chair the meeting. The committee was also expected to review its forward work programme and training requirements.
Freedom of the Borough, Council - Thursday, 4th December, 2025 7.00 pm
In a special meeting, Islington Council awarded David John Dade the Freedom of the Borough in recognition of his extensive voluntary work with the Islington Poppy Appeal. Councillors praised Dade's dedication to veterans and the community, highlighting his fundraising efforts and support for those in need. The motion was moved by Councillor Una O'Halloran, Leader of the Council, seconded by Councillor Santiago Bell-Bradford (Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Inclusive Economy, Culture & Jobs), and passed unanimously.
Council - Thursday, 4th December, 2025 7.30 pm
The Islington Council meeting of 4 December 2025 included discussion of the council tax support scheme, a review of the constitution, and a new gambling policy. Councillors were also scheduled to discuss support for children, local government funding, and renter's rights. In addition to these items, the council was expected to discuss questions raised by members of the public and the youth council.
Executive - Thursday, 27th November, 2025 5.00 pm
The Islington Council Executive met to discuss a range of issues, including the borough's budget, fees and charges, and strategies for youth safety and community support. The Executive approved a new Youth Safety Strategy for 2025-2030, a Discretionary Rate Relief programme for 2026-2029, and a response to the Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee's review of school attendance. They also agreed to open a new period for Discretionary Rate Relief, but stipulated that all organisations, even those previously awarded relief, must reapply.
