Council - Thursday, 11th July, 2024 7.15 pm
The meeting of the full council approved the minutes of the previous meeting and agreed to several appointments to committees. Councillors also debated a petition to redevelop the Sunnyside Community Center, and heard a deputation from the Friends of Barnard Park about traffic and parking in the park.
Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee - Monday, 10th June, 2024 7.00 pm
The meeting agreed its membership, terms of reference, dates of meetings, work program and scrutiny topic for the 2024-25 municipal year. The committee also noted the 2023 SACRE Annual Report and Quarter 3 performance report.
Annual Council - Thursday, 16th May, 2024 7.30 pm
Councillor Anjna Khurana was elected as Mayor of Islington for 2024/25, with Councillor Jason Jackson as her deputy. Outgoing Mayor, Councillor Gary Heather, was thanked for his service to the borough. Councillor Kaya Comer-Schwartz announced a refreshed Executive, with new responsibilities and some changes in personnel. The Council also approved a number of constitutional amendments relating to the operation of scrutiny, changes to the Members’ Allowances Scheme and procurement rules, and the membership and terms of reference for the Council’s committees.
Policy and Performance Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 14th May, 2024 7.30 pm
The Committee agreed the final report of its review into the multi-agency response to complex anti-social behaviour and submitted it to the Executive. The committee also noted the council's Quarter 3 performance report.
Planning Sub Committee A - Thursday, 25th April, 2024 7.30 pm
The Planning Subcommittee unanimously resolved to grant planning permission subject to conditions for the change of use of Unit ST-2 at 21 Parkfield Street from Use Class E to Use Class E and/or Class B8 to allow for the operation of a dark supermarket, for the storage and distribution of grocery goods, with associated parking. The committee added further conditions to the officer's recommendation in order to ensure greater management of the site's operation and its impact on the amenity of nearby residents. These included the submission of details of the welfare facilities provided for staff and the provision of a designated point of contact for residents to raise any concerns with the management of the unit before the commencement of its operation. After one year of operation the applicant will also be required to submit a new delivery and servicing plan, operational management plan and transport statement including real trip data.
