Anti-social Behaviour and Alcohol PSPO

From: Cabinet - Thursday, 24th July, 2025 7.00 pm - July 24, 2025

There is an ongoing issue of antisocial behaviour in the Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate areas. The causes are complex. The Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) is recognised by partner agencies as an effective tool for dealing with such behaviour.   Council officers gathered and analysed  the evidence base for the restrictions proposed in the draft PSPO considered by Cabinet. Cabinet was also asked to conscientiously consider the results of a comprehensive consultation with residents, voluntary groups and statutory consultees including the local chief officer of police; the police and crime commissioner; owners or occupiers of land within the affected area. Having carefully considered the evidence base and the results of consultation Cabinet reviewed each of the proposed restrictions.

Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme Fund Grant Award

From: Cabinet - Thursday, 24th July, 2025 7.00 pm - July 24, 2025

The Council has set out a priority to achieve Net Zero by 2030. To support the commitment, an application was made to the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme Fund to fund a number of energy-efficient replacements in four of its estate buildings: The Gateway in Cecil Street, The Kent Innovation Centre and Ramsgate, and Hartsdown Your Leisure buildings.   The funding application was successful, and the council has received a Grant Award Agreement, which requires the council to match fund the project.   Continuing with this project and utilising the allocated funds will ensure the council goes some way in meeting its commitment of reaching Net Zero. Additionally, replacing like-for-like mechanical equipment that is coming to the end of its life will reduce the council's longer-term cost associated with future replacements.
