Living in Hackney Scrutiny Commission - Monday 20 October 2025 7.00 pm

The Living in Hackney Scrutiny Commission met to discuss the annual housing complaints report and the council's empty homes campaign, with a focus on improving services and addressing housing needs. Councillors reviewed data, questioned officers, and discussed strategies for better complaint handling, policy improvements, and bringing empty properties back into use. The Hackney Council Planning Sub-Committee met on 8 October 2025, to discuss several planning applications, including a large development at the Shoreditch Island Site, the construction of new residential dwellings on the Nye Bevan Estate, and the change of use of existing properties to children's homes at 38 Firsby Road and 15 Triangle Road. The sub-committee approved the minutes from the previous meeting, and also approved all of the planning applications that were discussed, with the exception of the application for 9 Clifden Road, which was deferred.

Living in Hackney Scrutiny Commission - Tuesday 23 September 2025 7.00 pm

The Living in Hackney Scrutiny Commission met to discuss the progress of the Eliminating Violence Against Women & Girls Strategy 2022-25, to note scrutiny reports, letters and responses, to review the scrutiny actions tracker, to review the Living in Hackney work programme for 2025/26 and to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. The Commission reviewed the progress made against delivering the priorities and actions outlined in the Eliminating Violence Against Women & Girls Strategy 2022-25 and agreed the work programme shortlist for the 2025/26 municipal year.
