The Royal Borough of Greenwich's Cabinet met on Wednesday 9 April 2025, and agreed to recommend to full council the prohibition of itinerant ice cream trading on King William Walk and to note the updated Strategic Risk Register. The Cabinet also reviewed school place planning and capital programmes for 2024/25 - 2026/27, agreeing to proposed arrangements for managing projected trends in school place demand.

It also agreed the closure of Gallions Mount Primary School, noted the conversion of De Lucy Primary School to an academy, and noted the findings of the LGA peer review on health and adult services.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich Cabinet agreed to the recommendations made in the 'Together for Greenwich: Co-operation for the Future' report, including the allocation of £1 million to establish a Community Energy Fund. The fund will offer grants to community groups for projects that support the shift to net zero in the borough. The meeting also saw confirmation that the Council would host the Co-operative Councils Innovation Network (CCIN) conference in Woolwich on the 12th and 13th of February 2025.

Local Council Tax Support Scheme 2025/26

...to ensure the affordability of the Local Council Tax Support scheme for working-age claimants from 2025/26, the Cabinet recommended to the Council changes including reducing the maximum support level to 80%, increasing the earnings taper to 25%, increasing the non-dependant deduction charge to £10 per week, removing exemptions for non-dependants, abolishing the second adult rebate, allowing DWP notifications as LCTS claims, and creating a Discretionary Council Tax Hardship Fund.

Acquisition under lease of care homes owned by NHS Property Services

...to approve the freehold acquisition of five NHS-owned properties providing care and support services for people with learning disabilities, delegate the acquisition process to the Director of Place and Growth, delegate the service provider procurement to the Director of Health and Adult Services, note the intention to explore deregistration opportunities for some properties, and agree to treat financial information as exempt.
