Councillors then heard deputations from residents on the condition of Palace Road Nature Garden, the need for cycle hangers suitable for cargo bikes, and poor housing conditions and repairs on the Tulse Hill Estate.

The Lambeth Together Care Partnership agreed the minutes of their previous meeting and noted the Place Executive Lead report. The Board discussed updates on the Lambeth Suicide Prevention Strategy, initiatives aimed at helping older adults in Lambeth to age well, the work of the Lambeth Together Primary Care Commissioning Committee and the Lambeth Together Assurance Sub-Group, and plans for the Partnership's 2025/26 Business Plan. The Board also ratified the proposed update to the Lambeth Together Care Partnership's Terms of Reference.

The Lambeth Council Cabinet agreed to implement a number of changes to the way that it funds its services and supports residents. The council approved a new financial strategy that includes £50 million in savings over the next four years, a new SEND and Alternative Provision Strategy that aims to reduce the number of children being excluded from school, a new action plan to bring empty homes back into use, and new policies to help move homeless families into private rented accommodation.

Adult Social Care and Health Scrutiny Sub-Committee - Tuesday 5 November 2024 7.00 pm

The Sub-Committee considered three reports, and reviewed the current work programme. They made recommendations to write to the Home Office to request additional funding for sanctuary seekers and to provide more information about its plans to accommodate asylum seekers in Lambeth. They also made recommendations for the Housing Scrutiny Sub-Committee on the Healthy Homes Partnership, and requested that it review its powers to make the pledges made by contractors mandatory. The Sub-Committee noted the work being done to prepare for an inspection by the Care Quality Commission.
